Men's Soccer Travels to Face Akron on Saturday Afternoon

AKRON, Ohio – The Temple University men's soccer team will travel to Ohio to face the Akron Zips on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from FirstEnergy Stadium. The Owls enter the match with a 1-3-2 record following a 2-0 loss against the Drexel Dragons on Sept. 10. Akron enters the match at 1-2-3, previously falling to IU Indianapolis 2-1.

- In TU's previous match against Drexel, Alex Champagne achieved a career-high in shots with two, including one that narrowly missed, hitting the top post.
- The Owls currently lead the AAC in total saves with 32 as a team. TU also ranks second in the conference in corner kicks with 30.
- Flannan Riley is projected to start in goal as the Owls have been alternating goalies this season. In his last start against Penn, Riley set a career-high in saves with seven.

- Redshirt-senior Emil Jaaskelainen leads the Zips in goals this season with three. This includes a two-goal performance in Akron's match against Cleveland St. on Sept. 2.
- The Zips have played against three ranked opponents, drawing 1-1 against No. 2 Notre Dame, another 1-1 draw against No. 5 Western Michigan and a 4-0 win against No. 13 VCU.
- Akron is coached by Jared Embick. Embick is in his 12th season as head coach of the Zips with a combined record of 134-58-35 entering Saturday's match. Over his tenure, Arkon has secured 11 conference tournament titles, 14 trips to the NCAA Tournament and three appearances in the College Cup final.
- This is the Owls' second-ever matchup against Akron, with their first meeting taking place in 1967.
