PHILADELPHIA - The Temple's women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory over Navy on Sunday afternoon, securing their first home win at Temple Sports Complex and their second shutout of the season.

  • Yao Zhou scored her first goal as a Temple Owl.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The action opened evenly as both teams recorded three shots over the initial 20 minutes.
  • The game's lone goal came in the 31st minute when Yao Zhou capitalized on a perfectly executed cross from Shari Atkins, tipped to Zhou by Carly Steinberg.  
  • In the 80th minute, Fiona Kilian nearly extended the Owls lead with a header that narrowly missed the target.
  • As the half closed, defenders Jessica Wallace and Natalie DeMasi made crucial clearances to maintain the lead.
  • Tamsin Bynoe recorded three impressive saves in the second half to secure the clean sheet for her second shutout of the season. After tonight's contest, Bynoe is ranked second in the American Athletic Conference in saves.
