Football to Begin AAC Play at Navy

THIS WEEK
Temple heads to Annapolis, Maryland to take on the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday, September 7. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and will air on CBS Sports Network.
LAST WEEK
The Owls were defeated in their season opener by #16 Oklahoma, 51-3. The Sooners forced six turnovers, preventing Temple from ever finding a rhythm. Oklahoma also showcased an impressive rushing attack, gaining 217 yards on the ground.
LAST TIME VS. NAVY
Temple defeated Navy last season at Lincoln Financial Field, 32-18. WR Zae Baines caught seven passes for 132 yards, both career highs. QB E.J. Warner threw for 402 yards, connecting with four different targets in the endzone, highlighted by TE Jordan Smith's two touchdown receptions. Defensively, LB Jordan Magee and DT Jerquavian Mahone set career highs in tackles (8). Magee added a career high in tackles for loss (4.5) as well.
LAST TIME AT NAVY
Temple last visited Annapolis in 2022, losing in overtime 27-20. It was a back-and-forth game until the end. The Owls fell behind early 13-0, but climbed back in the fourth quarter with 10 unanswered points. Despite the loss, several Temple players set career highs. WR Amad Anderson set his then career high in receiving yards (114), which he then broke against Miami in 2023 with 117 yards. LB Yvandy Rigby set his career high in tackles (16), and LB Layton Jordan
set the program record for defensive touchdowns in a season (3).
TEMPLE-NAVY HISTORY
The Owls and Midshipmen have faced off 18 times, with the all-time series currently tied at nine wins apiece. In Annapolis, Navy holds a slight advantage, having won six of the 11 match ups. However, Temple defeated Navy in the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championship at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, 34-10. This victory marked the Owls' first conference championship in the American.

Temple will open its home schedule next week with a non-conference matchup against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, September 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
