Richmond, Va. - The Temple women's tennis team fell to Appalachian State in a hard-fought match this afternoon. Martyna Mackiewicz led the way for Temple in singles play with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 victory over Ruby Broadbent at No. 4.

How It Happened

Temple faced tough competition in doubles, with Thamara Kawaratani and Irmak Ozturk falling 6-0 at #1 and Maria Martinez and Shevita Aulana dropping a 6-1 match at #2. The #3 doubles pair, Martyna Mackiewicz and Nina Andreoni, had their match go unfinished while trailing 5-3.
Mackiewicz secured a decisive victory for Temple at #4 singles, defeating Ruby Broadbent 6-1, 6-4. Andreoni also had a promising start at #6 singles, leading 2-0 before the match was left unfinished.
Ozturk battled at #2 singles, taking the first set 6-4 before her match went unfinished at 3-2 in the third set. Martinez also put up a spirited fight at #3 singles but fell 6-2, 6-3.
