Owls in the NFL - Conference Championships
1.27.25 | Football
Dion Dawkins (2013-16), and Jordan Magee (2019-23) were the last Owls on NFL rosters remaining in the NFL playoffs. With the Super Bowl now set between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, let's look back at how our guys performed in the conference championship games.
Washington's Magee was sidelined with a hamstring injury, that forced the Commanders to place him on injury reserve ending Magee's rookie season. The Commanders struggled in this one with costly turnovers giving the Eagles a blowout win, 55-23. Magee will now look to heal his injured hamstring and return next season at full health.
Buffalo's Dawkins and the Bills offensive line has been elite all year and that didn't change against the Chiefs. The Bills ran for 147 yards and two rushing touchdowns in the game. Unfortunately, that was not enough to beat Kansas City who will now compete for its third straight Super Bowl win against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although his playoff run has ended, Dawkins was selected to the Pro Bowl and will head to Orlando to play against some of the top performers in the NFL. Dawkins is also the Buffalo Bills' nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year, with the 2024 honor being named on Super Bowl eve.
Although no former Temple Owl will play in the Super Bowl, there are many who passed through North Broad who will look to take home a Super Bowl trophy. Representing Kansas City is director of player personnel Tim Terry (1994-97). The Eagles will have a few Owls flying to New Orleans with them: senior VP, communications Bob Lange (1999-2001), director of football operations/pro scout Ameena Soliman. (2014-17), scout Rod Streater (2010-11), assistant linebackers coach Ronell Williams (2017-18), head coach quality control Tyler Yelk (2019-21).
