Owls in the NFL - Week 7

This week's Sunday Night Football matchup featured two former Owls squaring off as offensive lineman Matt Hennessy (2016–19) and the San Francisco 49ers took on linebacker Arnold Ebiketie (2017–20) and the Atlanta Falcons. After 49ers' center Jake Brendel exited in the second quarter, Hennessy stepped in and anchored the offensive line for the remainder of the game, helping power a San Francisco rushing attack that totaled 174 yards. Late in the fourth quarter, he delivered a crucial push at the goal line, paving the way for Christian McCaffrey's touchdown that would seal the 49ers' 20–10 victory. On the other side, Ebiketie turned in a solid performance for the Falcons, recording four tackles in the loss.
The other Owls wersus Owls matchup this week pitted Hasson Reddick (2013-16), Todd Bowles (1982-85), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers battling Rock Ya-Sin (2018) and the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.Ya-Sin was solid in coverage totaling two pass deflections in addition to four tackles while Reddick posted a quarterback hit. Both Ya-Sin and Reddick exited the game in the second half with injuries and did not return. The Lions went on to win 24-9 to improve to 5-2 while Bowles' squad dropped to 5-2 on the season.
Down in Dallas, Washington's Jacob Martin (2014-17) and Jordan Magee (2019-23) both played well despite a 44-22 loss to the Cowboys. Martin really made his mark posting four total tackles along with three QB hits, and a half sack. Magee also added four tackles of his own. Wide receiver Robbie Chosen (2013-2015) made his Commanders debut after being activated from the practice squad this week, playing in his first NFL action in over a year. He hauled in all of his targets, totaling four receptions for 36 yards.
Kicker Brandon McManus (2009-12) remains out with a right quadriceps injury. His next opportunity to return is during Green Bay's upcoming Sunday Night Football showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dion Dawkins (2013-16), Sam Franklin (2016-19), and the Buffalo Bills were on a bye this week. They'll be back in action next Sunday to take on the Carolina Panthers on the road.
Tight end David Martin-Robinson (2018-23) played six snaps in Tennessee's 31-13 loss to the Patriots. Cornerback Christian Braswell (2017-20) did not play in Jacksonville's 35-7 loss to the Rams.
