Owls in the NFL - Week 8

The NFL concluded week 8 with a Monday Night Football matchup between Washington and Kansas City. Although the Chiefs won, 28-7, defensive end Jacob Martin (2014-17) Patrick Mahomes twice and was praised repeatedly by ESPN's Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Linebacker Jordan Magee (2019-23) also contributed for the Commanders defense with four tackles.

Head coach Todd Bowles's (1982-85) Tampa Bay Buccaneers improved to 6-2 with a 23-3 win against the New Orleans Saints. The Bucs are currently first place in the NFC South as Bowles is off to his best start since becoming the head coach of Tampa Bay. Linebacker Haason Reddick (2013-16) did not play due to a knee and ankle injury. 

Offensive lineman Dion Dawkins' (2013-16) and safety Sam Franklin's (2016-19) Buffalo Bills were victorious with a dominating 40-9 triumph over the Carolina Panthers to improve to 5-2 on the season. Dawkins contributed to a run game that put up 245 yards and an offense that totaled 410 yards. Franklin did not record any tackles but did serve as a captain during the coin toss against his former team.

Kicker Brandon McManus made his return to the field in the Packers 35-25 victory over the Steelers after missing two consecutive games due to injury. McManus converted two of his four field goals, both in the fourth quarter in the win.

Defensive end Arnold Ebiketie recorded four tackles in Atlanta's 34-10 loss to the Dolphins. Matt Hennessy (2016-19) started at center for the first time this season for the 49ers in a 26-15 loss to the Houston Texans. tight end David Martin-Robinson (2018-23) played four snaps in Tennessee's 38-14 loss to the Colts.

Cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (2018) and the Detroit Lions were on a bye this week. They will play host to the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday at 1:00 pm. Cornerback Christian Braswell (2017-20) and the Jacksonville Jaguars were also on a bye. They will travel to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders next Sunday at 4:05 pm.
