Temple Closes Out Season in Battle Against Wichita State

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's volleyball (16-15, 5-11 American) fell to Wichita State (18-10, 10-5 American) Sunday afternoon at McGonigle Hall. Three Owls recorded double-digit kills: Leia Harper (17), Christiana Greene (15), and Alyssa Finister, who matched her career-high with 12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 15, Wichita State 25)
The Owls opened the frame on a 3-0 run with a block and kill from Christiana Greene and a kill from Alyssa Finister.
Wichita State rallied with a 4-0 run to take a 13-11 lead, halted briefly by a Greene kill.
The Shockers maintained momentum, closing the set on another 4-0 run to win 25-15.
SET 2 (Temple 25, Wichita State 20)
Temple started strong, jumping out to a 7-2 lead behind a mix of blocks, kills, and aces led by Greene.
Leia Harper and Olivia Hummel powered a 4-0 run to extend the advantage to 12-6.
Finister and Hummel sealed the set with a block, evening the match at 1–1 with a 25-20 score.
SET 3 (Temple 24, Wichita State 26)
Wichita State opened with a 6-3 lead.
Kills by Harper and Katie Hickey, plus back-to-back aces from Qairo Bentley, tied the frame at 8-8.
In a tight back-and-forth stretch, Finister sparked a three-point run to give Temple a 20-18 edge.
The Shockers responded late, taking the set 26-24.
SET 4 (Temple 17, Wichita State 25)
Harper, Greene, and Finister each tallied early kills as Temple edged ahead 3-2.
Wichita State answered with a 4-0 run and later stretched the lead to 13-7.
The Shockers remained in control and closed out the match with a 25-17 win in set four.
INSIDE THE BOX
Alyssa Finister recorded a career-high 12 kills and matched her career-high with five digs.
Daniella Gonzalez Murati posted a career-high 39 assists.
