About the Game
The Temple University men's basketball team takes the short trip to Villanova for an important Philadelphia Big 5 pod game on Monday evening. The Owls and Wildcats enter the contest with 1-0 records in Big 5 play, and the winner will advance to the championship game of the Big 5 Classic to take on Penn inside Xfinity Mobile Arena on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Last Time Out
  • The Owls wrapped up play at the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando with a 90-75 loss to Rhode Island.
  • Four players reached double figures in the scoring column for Temple, including a team-best 18 points off the bench for senior AJ Smith.
  • The scoring output for Smith was the highest he has had in a single game this season.
  • Derrian Ford, Aiden Tobiason, and Masiah Gilyard each had 11. Jamai Felt grabbed a Temple-high nine rebounds while Jordan Mason dished out six assists.
  • Mason has distributed 26 assists over the season's first eight games while turning the ball over just eight times.
  • Temple has gone to the free-throw line 27.7 times per game, nearly 10 more per game than its opponents.
Scouting Villanova
  • After falling to nationally-ranked BYU in the season opener, Villanova has won five straight including an 89-75 victory over Old Dominion on Nov. 25.
  • The Wildcats are averaging 86.8 points per game during their winning streak and five players are averaging in double figures on the year.
  • Sophomore Bryce Lindsay, the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year for James Madison last season, is averaging 19.0 points per game and is shooting 47.8 percent from three-point range.
  • A pair of freshmen - Acaden Lewis and Matt Hodge - average 13.5 points and 12.5 points per game, respectively.
  • The two teams have one common opponent, as both Temple and Villanova defeated La Salle this season. The Owls beat the Explorers, 90-63, while the Wildcats earned a 70-55 road victory at La Salle on Nov. 19.
