DANSBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced Friday that Temple University field hockey freshman Lucia Magro was named ECAC Rookie of the Year, while senior Peyton Rieger earned a spot on the All-ECAC Second Team.

Magro capped her freshman campaign with 20 points on nine goals and two assists, the most by an Owl freshman since 1987, when all-time points leader Jane Catanzaro recorded 35 points. She tallied three game-winning goals and earned three BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors, along with two selections to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Magro also garnered BIG EAST Freshman of the Year honors, All-BIG EAST First Team recognition and NFHCA All-Mid Atlantic Region Second Team accolades.

Rieger was a force throughout her senior season, posting 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points — the highest total by a Temple player since Alyssa Delp's 37-point senior season in 2015. She closed her career in dramatic fashion, scoring her fifth game-winning goal of the year in overtime of a 3-2 victory over Providence. Rieger tied for second in the conference in both points and goals and ranked seventh in assists. She earned two BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors and was twice named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. In addition, the Woolwich, N.J., native earned BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors, All-BIG EAST First Team recognition, a spot on the NFHCA Senior Team and NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team accolades.

The ECAC is an 85-year-old organization with more than 200 member institutions across NCAA Divisions I, II and III. The conference sponsors championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast to enhance the student-athlete experience.

Temple concluded the 2025 season with a 12-6 overall record.
