Owls Go Undefeated in Non-Conference Homestand with Win Over Coppin State

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team (6–5) earned a victory over the visiting Coppin State Eagles (2–11). Drew Alexander and Kelian Cedano led the Owls with 12 points apiece. Jaleesa Molina recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

How it happened
First Quarter
- Kaylah Turner knocked down a three-pointer to give the Owls a 4–0 lead one minute into the contest.
- Drew Alexander came up with a steal and sent Saniyah Craig on a fast break for an easy layup.
- Coppin State did not register its first basket until Patricia Sosa Lora converted a layup at the 6:25 mark, making it 7–2 Temple.
- Following a made free throw by Molina, the Owls went on a scoreless drought lasting over two minutes until Molina ended it with a fast-break layup.
- After the media timeout, both teams struggled offensively. Coppin State committed four straight turnovers over nearly three minutes, while Temple went 0-for-5 from the floor during a two-minute scoring drought.
- Alexander later knocked down a three-pointer to give the Owls a 10-point lead with under three minutes remaining, 12–2.
- Sosa Lora fought through traffic for a basket to pull the Eagles within four, 12–8.

- Kelian Cedano used a strong fake to finish with a finger-roll layup, making it 17–8 in favor of Temple.

Third Quarter
- Kaylah Turner opened the half with a driving layup, giving Temple 30 points while Coppin State remained at 13.
- Cedano connected on her first three-pointer of the night to give the Owls a 37–20 advantage.
- Alexander drilled a corner three with under a minute remaining to put Temple up by 16. The basket ended a four-minute scoring drought, during which the Owls committed seven turnovers in a five-minute span.
Fourth Quarter
- Molina secured her fifth double-double of the season with a basket under the rim, giving her 10 points and 13 rebounds with just over seven minutes left.
- Brianna Mead delivered a strong entry pass to Cedano for an easy basket, extending the lead to 51–26.
- Ariana Meriedy scored her first points of the night after banking in a shot off the glass, making it 57–28.
- The Owls then went on a nearly four-minute field-goal drought, missing their final four shots during that stretch.
- Temple also committed four turnovers over a 2:23 span.
- Kyley Gary-Grayson sealed the game with a steal and fast-break basket in the final seconds, resulting in a 59–39 Temple victory.
