Temple men's basketball hits the road for a pair of American Athletic Conference games this week, beginning on Thursday with a matchup against South Florida.
The Owls are coming off a two-game homestand that saw them earn a pair of overtime victories, including a 98-94 triumph over East Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Avenging a one-point loss to the Pirates earlier in the season, Temple overcame a 10-point, second-half deficit and did not lead during the entirety of regulation.
Senior Steve Settle III knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game and force overtime with just over a minute to go, then gave the Owls their first lead of the game early in the overtime period.
Graduate student Jamal Mashburn Jr. scored 20 of his team-high 32 points in the second half and registered his second straight game of at least 30 points, closing 10-for-16 from the field and 10-for-13 from the free-throw line.
Mashburn Jr. racked up a number of weekly awards for his efforts, as he was named Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week, AAC Player of the Week and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week.
The 6-2 guard was also one of 50 players nationally named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding men's college basketball player by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Scouting South Florida
