Owls Fall Short in Road Matchup with Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Temple women's lacrosse (2-7) suffered a 17-9 defeat to Rutgers (7-3) on the road, Thursday night at SHI Stadium. Erin King and Emily Liberio both led the Owls in scoring with two goals.
How It Happened
- Emily Liberio put Temple up 2-0 after scoring back-to-back goals in the 11th minute of the game. Following goals from Hilary Elsner and Michelle Warren, Rutgers tied the game at 2-2. However, Jenna Facciolli gave Temple a 3-2 lead after her goal in the final minutes of the first quarter.
- The Scarlet Knights outscored Temple in the second quarter, netting eight goals, while Erin King and Lily Caravela added goals for the Owls. Rutgers took a commanding 10-5 lead over Temple heading into halftime.
- In the third quarter, Rutgers tacked on six more goals to extend their lead to 16-6, with King scoring her second goal, the Owls' only goal of the quarter.
- Sabrina Martin scored in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Scarlet Knights added three more goals to secure a 19-7 victory.
Up Next
The Owls will return to Howarth Field on Tuesday, March 25, to take on Pitt. The game is set for 3 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN+.
