WORCESTER, Mass. - The No. 17 Temple men's varsity eight crew picked up a pair of wins over ranked opponents, including a nine-second win over No. 18 Holy Cross, highlighting five races by the Owls on Saturday at two separate sites.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Facing three other first varsity eight crews ranked in the IRCA/IRA Top 25 poll, the Owls acquitted themselves quite well.
- Temple soundly defeated No. 18 Holy Cross and No. 24 Hobart, crossing over nine seconds in front of the Crusaders and over 16 seconds in front of the Statesmen.
- The only varsity eight boat to cross ahead of the Owls was the No. 12 Terriers, who earned a win by 2.6 seconds.
- Temple's second varsity eight also finished second behind just BU, and the third varsity eight picked up a victory over Marist.
- With the top varsity's win over Holy Cross and Hobart, the Owls earned the Quinn Memorial Cup, named after Temple alum Michael Quinn.
- Temple, Holy Cross and Hobart are all coached by former Temple rowers who rowed under legendary coach Dr. Gavin White -Temple's Brendan Cunningham, Holy Cross coach James Barr, and Hobart head coach Chris Kerber.
