Owls Lose 12-11 to Vanderbilt in Tight Contest

NASHVILLE, TENN. — Temple women's lacrosse (2-10, 0-3 AAC) fell to Vanderbilt (6-7, 2-2 AAC), 12-11, in a close matchup on the road in Nashville Saturday afternoon. Sarah Gowman finished with three goals, while Erin King and Amelia Wright each scored two.
How It Happened
- Vanderbilt closed out the first quarter with a 6-4 lead over Temple, following goals from Brooke Baker, Jaime Biskup, and Nancy Halleron, who all scored twice in the first quarter. Lexi Culp, Sabrina Martin, and Emily Liberio scored for the Owls, while King connected on two goals.
- In the second quarter, Temple took a 4-1 advantage in goals, with Wright scoring two and King and Gowman each adding one. The Owls led 8-7 at halftime.
- In the third quarter, the Commodores took a 3-1 advantage in goals after Anna Taraboletti scored the first goal coming out of halftime. Baker and Halleron followed with goals for Vanderbilt, while Lily Caravela scored the lone goal for the Owls in the third. Vanderbilt secured a 10-9 lead heading into the fourth.
- To close out the game, Gowman netted two more goals for the Owls and nearly connected on a shot to tie the game in the final seconds, but it went wide. Vanderbilt secured a 12-11 victory, with two goals from Kemper Robinson in the fourth quarter.
Up Next
The Owls will return home on April 12 at Howarth Field to take on James Madison for Alumni Day. Game time is set for noon and will be televised on ESPN+.
