Atlanta, GA – The Wuerffel Foundation announced a record 116 nominees to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List Thursday afternoon. This award recognizes college football players from across the FBS who exemplify community service, academic excellence, and athletic achievement.
The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy celebrates student-athletes who use their platforms to serve others and create positive change and has done so for 20 previous years. This trophy is named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, someone who turned his football success into a lifelong mission of service. The award reflects his legacy of leadership and humanitarianism.
Love, a sophomore safety, has worked intensively in our community service efforts. He leads the team in community service hours and is always looking for a way to give back to the Philadelphia and Camden communities. As a local, he feels as though he has a responsibility to be a good role model for the younger generation — including his little brother.
Love's why is that he wants to show them that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. He is driven by being someone his brother can look up to and be proud of.
Some things that Willy has done in the past are returning to Eastside High, his old high school, to spend time and talk to the students there, giving them words of affirmation, and teaching them what he learned through his experiences. He also spends time doing trash cleanups in North Philadelphia. He had a fundraiser for the day care where his mom works. In the spring, Willy completed over 30 hours of community service, including his service with the team and his volunteer work.
