Greene Leads Temple in Tough Match Against Villanova

PHILADELPHIA- Temple volleyball (4-3) fell to Villanova (6-0) Thursday evening at McGonigle Hall in its home opener. The Owls were led by Christiana Greene with nine kills hitting .360.

HOW IT HAPPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 13, Villanova 25)

Nova went on an early 4-0 run, 8-3. Temple cut into the Wildcats lead
The Wildcats pulled away for set one, 25-13.

SET 2 (Temple 26, Villanova 28)

The Owls led 10-6, fueled by a combination of kills, blocks, and Villanova service errors.
Villanova responded with a three-point run to take a 22-19 lead before Temple went on a 3-0 run to tie the set at 24-24.
Temple and Villanova battled back and forth for the set point, with the Wildcats eventually coming out on top, 28-26.
Set two featured 10 lead changes and three ties.

SET 3 (Temple 15, Villanova 25)

After falling behind 8-2, the Owls rallied with a 4-0 run to make it 9-7, highlighted by kills from Christiana Greene and Alyssa Finister, including a solo block from Finister.
Freshman Cardwell added back-to-back kills, trimming Villanova's lead to 11-10.
The Wildcats then pulled away to close the set at 25-15.

The team will then head to New York this weekend to compete in the Rose Hill Classic tournament. The Owls will face Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) on Friday at 4:00 P.M., take on Fordham University on Saturday at 6:00 P.M., and conclude the tournament against Hofstra University on Sunday at 2:00 P.M.
