Owls Set to Host Villanova, Ahead of Rose Hill Classic

PHILADELPHIA - Temple will open its home season against Villanova on Wednesday, September 10th, at 4:00 P.M. The team will then head to New York this weekend to compete in the Rose Hill Classic tournament. The Owls will face Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) on Friday at 4:00 P.M., take on Fordham University on Saturday at 4:00 P.M., and conclude the tournament against Hofstra University on Sunday at 2:00 P.M.

NEWS IN THE NEST 
Over the weekend, Christiana Greene led the Owls offensively, finishing with 34 kills (3.4 per set) on a .364 hitting percentage, including an impressive 17-kill, .455 performance against George Washington. Greene also topped the team in blocks with 11. Lexi Yoza managed the offense with 61 assists, while contributing six aces and 28 digs. She recorded a season-high five aces against Georgetown, with three of those coming in the first set. Currently, Temple ranks third in the American Conference with 56 total blocks. Freshman Cardwell has made a strong impact in her debut season, posting 12 kills with a .310 hitting percentage and adding four total blocks across nine sets.

Scouting Villanova
So far this season, Abby Harrell leads Villanova in digs (56) and kills (86), hitting .355 and averaging four kills per set. Campbell McKinnon was named Tournament MVP after hitting an outstanding .580 with 49 kills and 11 blocks over the weekend. The Wildcats are coached by Josh Steinbach, who is entering his 19th season at Villanova.

Scouting Fairleigh Dickinson University 
Kyndal Ganoel leads FDU in digs (79), averaging 3.29 digs per set. Giorgia Vaschetti recently posted 18 kills and six blocks in a win over Loyola Maryland. FDU is coached by David Nguyen, who has led the Knights since 2022.

Scouting Fordham University 
Last weekend, the Rams were led by Zoe Talabong, who recorded a career-high 21 kills and added 19 digs. Fordham had four players reach double figures in digs. The Rams are coached by Ian Choi, who has been with Fordham for nine years, including eight as head coach.

Temple leads the series 27-6 and has won the last two match ups.

Scouting Hofstra 
Izadora Stedile leads Hofstra this season with 51 kills, hitting .276 and averaging .364 kills per set. Last weekend, Hofstra improved to 4-0, with Nina Jioshvili-Ravva leading the Pride with 38 assists, 18 digs, three kills, and two blocks. Hofstra is coached by Emily Mansur, who is in her 12th year as head coach.

The Owls will host the Cherry and White Invitational, where they will play Presbyterian College, Quinnipiac University and Dartmouth College.
