Temple Tops Fordham 3-1 Behind Harper’s Double-Double

BRONX, N.Y. – Temple women's volleyball (5-3) took down Fordham University (5-3) in a 3-1 victory (25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20) on the second day of the Rose Hill Classic Saturday afternoon. Leia Harper recorded a career-high 18 kills and added 13 digs for a double-double performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 25, Fordham 18)
Swinging from the back row, Olivia Hummel gave the Owls an early 2-0 lead. An ace and a kill from Leia Harper extended Temple's advantage to 7-4.
Mariyana Cardwell, Alyssa Finister, Christiana Greene, and Katie Hickey each contributed at least one kill in Temple's 13-kill set to secure a 25-18 win.

SET 2 (Temple 22, Fordham 25)
After trailing by as many as eight points, the Owls rallied to cut Fordham's lead to 13-12, led by two kills from Harper.
A block and a kill from Finister kept the Owls close, 21-19, but Fordham held on to take the set 25-22.

SET 3 (Temple 25, Fordham 23)
Harper opened strong with three early kills, giving the Owls a 6-2 lead.
Temple's defense stood tall with back-to-back blocks from Harper and Hummel, extending the advantage to 23-19.
Greene reached double-digit kills (11) to close out the set, 25-23.
Temple's outside hitters combined for 21 kills in the set.

SET 4 (Temple 25, Fordham 20)
The Owls came out firing, jumping to a 12-4 lead behind eight kills and an ace.
As Fordham chipped away at the deficit, back-to-back kills from Hummel kept Temple firmly in control, 20-14.
Harper sealed the match with a final kill to clinch the 25-20 victory.

Temple hit .300 with 13 kills in the first set.
Four Owls reached double-digit kills: Greene (14), Harper (18), Cardwell (10), and Hummel (11).
Freshman Claudia Rivera had a career high 20 digs.
