Owls in the NFL - Week 2

9.16.25 | Football

Temple Owls played in most of the marquee matchups in week 2 including Thursday, Sunday and Monday Night Football games.

Thursday Night Football featured Owls on both sidelines with Green Bay kicker Brandon McManus (2009-12) going up against two Washington Commanders - LB Jordan Magee (2019-23) and DE/LB Jacob Martin (2014-17). Martin notched three tackles and a half sack while Magee played on special teams. Both were able to enjoy a weekend off and traveled to Philadelphia to see the Owls take on Oklahoma from the sidelines at Lincoln Financial Field. McManus proved to be the difference in the game though, with nine points (2-3 FGs and 3-3 PATs) in a 27-18 Packer win.

Atlanta's DE/LB Arnold Ebiketie (2017-20) traveled to Minnesota for Sunday Night Football and his Falcons posted a resounding 22-6 win over the Vikings. Ebiketie contributed two tackles.

Tampa Bay's LB Haason Reddick (2013-16) and head coach Todd Bowles (1982-85) led the Buccaneers into Houston on Monday Night Football to take on the Texans. Reddick notched two tackles in the 20-19 win. The Bucs scored a touchdown with four seconds remaining to pull the come-from-behind victory. That propelled Tampa Bay to a 2-0 record for the fourth consecutive season. As such, Bowles is now the only coach in the NFL to have a perfect 8-0 record in the first two weeks of the last four seasons.

In Sunday's afternoon games, Buffalo's LT Dion Dawkins (2013-16) and SAF Sam Franklin (2016-19) had a convincing 30-10 win in New York versus the Jets. Franklin had one tackle while the Bills' offense plowed for 224 rushing yards, including 132-yards and two touchdowns by James Cook.

Detroit's CB Rock Ya-Sin (2018) and TE Kenny Yeboah (2016-19) played host to Chicago and shellacked the Bears for a 52-21 win. Ya-Sin posted two tackles.

San Francisco's OL Matt Hennessy (2016-19) did not play in a 26-21 win at New Orleans. Jacksonville's CB Christian Braswell (2017-20) did not play in a 31-27 loss at Cincinnati. Tennessee's TE David Martin-Robinson (2018-23) did not play in a 33-19 loss to the Rams.

The following players remain on inactive rosters:
Baltimore – WR Keith Kirkwood (2014-17) – Practice Squad
Detroit – OL Michael Niese (2020-21) – Practice Squad
