Brandon McManus

Owls in the NFL - Week 4

9.30.25 | Football

The Temple Owls had their first bye week of the college season, but plenty of former Owls made their mark across the NFL in Week 4.

Green Bay kicker Brandon McManus (2009–12) delivered one of the week's most dramatic performances on Sunday Night Football. McManus drilled a game-tying 53-yard field goal late in regulation before connecting on a 34-yarder as time expired in overtime, sealing a 40–40 tie. The result marked the first 40–40 final in league history and tied for the second-highest scoring draw ever. McManus also converted four extra points in the contest.

In Washington's matchup with Atlanta, several former Owls squared off. Jacob Martin (2014–17) recorded two tackles for the Commanders, while Falcons linebacker Arnold Ebiketie (2017–20) added one stop. Jordan Magee (2019–23) saw action for Washington but did not record any tackles. Atlanta earned a 34–27 victory.

Christian Braswell (2017–20) and the Jacksonville Jaguars faced Matt Hennessy (2016–19) and the San Francisco 49ers. Neither appeared in the game, and Jacksonville came away with a 26–21 win.

The Buffalo Bills remained unbeaten with a 31–19 win over New Orleans. Left tackle Dion Dawkins (2013–16) helped pave the way for a ground game that racked up 165 rushing yards. On the defensive side, Sam Franklin (2016–19) saw action but did not record any tackles

In Tampa Bay, the Eagles became the NFL's only other unbeaten team with a win over head coach Todd Bowles (1982–85) and linebacker Haason Reddick (2013–16) of the Buccaneers. Reddick was a bright spot in the loss, posting four tackles, including one for loss, and adding a pass breakup.

Elsewhere around the league, Detroit cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (2018) contributed two tackles in the Lions' 34–10 win over Cleveland. Tight end David Martin-Robinson (2018–23) did not play in Tennessee's 26-0 loss to the Texans.

The following players remain on inactive rosters:

Baltimore – WR Keith Kirkwood (2014-17) – Practice Squad

Detroit – OL Michael Niese (2020-21) – Practice Squad; TE Kenny Yeboah (2016-19) - Injured
