Simon Named to Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Watch List
9.30.25 | Football
DALLAS, TEXAS - The watch list for the ninth annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year was announced today, a group that includes 67 of the nation's top leaders in college football. Temple's Evan Simon was among the 67 named to the watch list. The redshirt senior quarterback was one of four members of the American Conference to get this nod.
Â
Simon was selected to wear a Temple Tuff single-digit at the beginning of the season - one of the highest honors for a Temple Football player. This honor is given to the those who lead on and off the field. Simon was named the starting quarterback ahead of week one's contest against Massachusetts. Following a week one win over UMass where he had six touchdown passes, Simon was named American Conference offensive player of the week. That performance also got Simon recognition by the Manning Award. He was one of eight quarterbacks named to Manning Award Stars of the Week following the week one win.
Â
The award, presented by Albertsons and Tom Thumb, is the first college football honor to focus primarily on a player's leadership, both on and off the field. Leadership is a term synonymous with Jason Witten, who, in addition to becoming one of the best tight ends in the history of the sport, served as one of football's most prominent role models during his 16-year pro career.
