Temple Volleyball Dominates Georgetown to Cap Perfect Weekend

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Temple women's volleyball (4-2) defeated Georgetown University (1-6) 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-20) on Sunday afternoon at McDonough Arena, closing out the George Washington/Georgetown Tournament. The Owls swept Georgetown with a dominant 9-0 run in the third set, finishing the tournament a perfect 3-0. Olivia Hummel recorded a career high 9 kills, hitting .364.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 28, Georgetown 26)
- Temple jumped out to a 12-8 lead with a 4-0 run that included kills by Alyssa Finister and Leia Harper, along with two aces from Lexi Yoza.
- Yoza tallied three aces and seven assists in the opening set.
- After nine ties, the Owls edged the Hoyas 28-26. Both teams hit over .250, recording 15 kills each in the tightly contested first set.
- Temple opened the second set strong with a 10-6 lead, fueled by a mix of kills, blocks, and aces.
- Kills from Mariyana Cardwell, Olivia Hummel, Finister, and Harper extended the lead to 20-15.
- Harper notched her 10th kill to close the set, giving the Owls a 25-18 win and a 2-0 match lead.
- Tied at 6-6 early, Georgetown responded with a 4-0 run to take a 10-6 lead. Temple cut the deficit with kills from Hummel (2) and Christiana Greene to make it 15-13.
- The Owls then mounted a decisive 9-0 run, highlighted by a kill and two blocks from Greene. Yoza sealed the match with her fifth ace as Temple took the set 25-20.
- Harper matched her career high 11 kills hitting .333.
- Hummel reached a career high 9 kills, hitting .364.
- Both teams had 41 kills, Temple hit .279, Georgetown hit .191 as a team.
- Temple owned the net with 11 blocks to Georgetown's five.
