Owls Battle In Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, FL - Temple women's volleyball (10-5) fell to Florida Atlantic (9-5) in four sets Friday evening at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. Khenedi Guest was a standout as she led the team in points(19.5), blocks(6.0), and had an efficient hitting percentage at .360.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set:1 (Temple 24 - FAU 26)

  • In the first set, FAU got out to a quick start going up three on Temple, but points from Lexi Yoza and Jaya Moore helped close the gap to one at 6-7.
  • FAU was able to extend their lead at 8-13, but after a timeout Temple stormed back rattling off five strait points to tie the set at 13.
  • Temple was able to go on another big run with a block from Khenedi Guest and a kill from Kennedy Crayton, gaining a two point advantage bringing the score to 19-17.
  • After a valiant comeback by Temple the game was tied at set point, but FAU was able to score two in a row winning the set 24-26.

Set:2 (Temple 20 - FAU 25)

  • FAU jumped out to a 0-4 lead until Guest scored a kill and two aces to bring the game within one at 3-4.
  • The second set was tight early, until a Moore block triggered a seven straight point run to take the lead 15-11 at the media timeout.
  • FAU would fight their way back closing the gap to within one at 20-19. They would then go on a five point run closing the set out at 20-25.

Set:3 (Temple 31 - FAU 29)

  • Steel Sinai got the scoring started for the Owls, as set three was a back and forth battle to start.
  • Temple would create some separation, recording four straight points to give themselves the 16-11 lead after the media timeout.
  • FAU proved to be a tough out as they battled back to tie the game at 21. The set was extended as neither team wanted to concede, but Temple would go on to win the set at 31-29.

Set:4 (Temple 23 - FAU 25)

  • Crayton recorded two kills to start set four, helping Temple jumped out to an early led at 5-2 lead.
  • The game was deadlocked within one at the media time out. Temple would then gain the upper scoring six of the next eight points, going up 21-17.
  • FAU would storm back scoring six of the next seven points as they went up 22-23. And would eventually close out the set 23-25
