Things to Look for in Week 6...
1
Ground and Pound
Temple has rushed for at least 175 yards in each of its first five games, totaling 1,063 yards on the ground. The 182-yard effort in the win at USF made this the first time the Owls have reached 175 rushing yards in five straight games since 2011.
2
No Passing Zone
Temple's defense has not allowed a passing touchdown in back-to-back games. It marks the first time the Owls have gone consecutive games without surrendering a passing score since Sept. 10 against Lafayette and Sept. 17 against Rutgers in 2022.
3
Lone Huskies
Temple hosts an FBS independent for the first time since defeating UMass, 28-0, on Sept. 24, 2022. The Owls are 4-8 against FBS independents since joining the American Conference in 2013, including a 3-3 mark at home.
4
Homecoming King
K.C. Keeler has compiled a 17-5 record in Homecoming games across his tenures at Delaware, Sam Houston and Temple. He went 8-3 at Delaware and 9-1 at Sam Houston, and will look for his first Homecoming victory with the Cherry and White after Temple fell to Navy, 32-31, in 2025.
5
Sheppard(ing) the Bulls
Ajani Sheppard became the first Temple player to rush and throw for a touchdown in consecutive road games since P.J. Walker in 2014. His career-long 34-yard rushing touchdown at USF gave Temple the lead with 3:08 remaining in the 17-13 victory.
- Temple is playing its final non-conference game of the 2026 season in Week 6, its latest non-conference matchup since facing Army on Oct. 21, 2017.
- Temple is 15-5 in Homecoming games since 2006, including wins over No. 20 Cincinnati in 2018 and No. 23 Memphis in 2019.
- Linebacker Curly Ordonez leads Temple with 53 total tackles and 33 solo tackles through five games. He ranks fifth in the FBS in total tackles and first in the American Conference.
