Sheppard Named Week 5 American Conference Honorable Mention

10.5.26 | Football

PHILADELPHIA – Temple quarterback Ajani Sheppard was named as an honorable mention in week five after his game-winning performance to knock off the South Florida Bulls.

Sheppard was monumental in leading the Owls to a 17-13 road victory over previously undefeated South Florida, accounting for 179 total yards and both of Temple's touchdowns. He completed 9 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown through the air, while adding 87 rushing yards on the ground.

Most importantly, Sheppard delivered when the game was on the line. While Temple was trailing 13-10 late in the fourth quarter, he capped a 96-yard, 10-play drive by breaking free for a career-long 34-yard touchdown run on third down with just 3:08 remaining on the clock. That score gave Temple the lead and ultimately secured the victory. In the process, Sheppard became the first Owls' player to lead the team in both passing and rushing yards in a game since Evan Simon vs Utah State on September 21, 2024.

Sheppard and the Owls return to Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 3:45 p.m. for a homecoming matchup against the UConn Huskies. Click the link above to purchase tickets today.
