SAN ANTONIO – The Temple women's basketball team (10-13, 4-6 American) lost to the UTSA Roadrunners (12-11, 7-5 American), 52-43, on Tuesday night in San Antonio. Saniyah Craig led the Owls with 13 points, going 4-for-11 from the field. She also grabbed 11 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season. Kaylah Turner registered 12 points after going 5-for-14 from the field.

How It Happened
First Quarter
  • Kaylah Turner drove to the basket and got a friendly bounce to put the Owls on the board first.
  • Damara Allen nailed a wide-open three to put UTSA ahead, 3-2, with 8:18 remaining in the opening quarter.
  • Savannah Curry answered right back with her own three-pointer to give Temple a 5-3 lead.
  • Temple went on a scoring drought of more than two minutes, and both teams went into the media timeout tied at seven.
  • Coming out of the media timeout, Felicia Jacobs hit a mid-range jump shot as the shot clock was expiring to make it 9-7, Owls.
  • The Roadrunners endured a scoring drought of more than three minutes until Cheyenne Rowe connected on a cutting layup.
  • Turner drilled a three-pointer to increase the Owls' lead to five, 12-7.
  • UTSA converted on back-to-back field goals to pull within one, 12-11, with 2:31 left in the first quarter.
  • Ariana Meriedy banked in a basket near the baseline as the Owls closed out the quarter with a 17-13 lead.
Second Quarter
  • Both teams struggled to start the second quarter until Turner converted on a jump shot at the 7:49 mark to give Temple a 19-13 lead.
  • Rowe connected on a pull-up jumper to tie the game at 19 apiece.
  • Temple missed its next four field goals, resulting in a scoring drought of more than four minutes.
  • UTSA sparked an 8-0 run after back-to-back baskets from Rowe, taking a 21-19 lead.
  • Saniyah Craig ended a six-minute scoring drought with a fast-break layup following a UTSA turnover.
  • Both teams had opportunities to take the lead going into halftime but could not convert, resulting in a 21-21 score at the break.
Third Quarter
  • Craig broke the tie just 15 seconds into the third quarter with a layup.
  • Mia Hammonds banked in a layup to give the Roadrunners a 26-24 lead with 7:52 remaining in the quarter.
  • Temple went on a 2:30 scoring drought after going 0-for-5 from the floor.
  • Jacobs hit a spectacular turnaround jumper to bring the Owls within two, 30-28, with 3:50 left in the third.
  • The Roadrunners struggled down the stretch, going 0-for-6 during a 2:19 scoring drought.
  • Following a Rowe cutting layup, UTSA closed out the third quarter with a 34-32 lead.
Fourth Quarter
  • Cheyenne Rowe converted on a jump shot to give her 18 points in the game with 8:56 remaining in regulation.
  • Turner cut the deficit to four with a driving layup, 38-34 UTSA.
  • Rowe converted a second-chance basket to give UTSA a 10-point advantage, 44-34.
  • The Owls endured a 3:50 scoring drought while going 0-for-7 from the field.
  • Craig made back-to-back trips to the free-throw line, converting three of four attempts to make it 48-37 Roadrunners.
  • Drew Alexander hit a three-pointer to pull the Owls within eight, 48-40, with 2:05 left in regulation.
  • Idara Udo banked a shot off the glass to put UTSA back up by 10, 50-40.
  • Curry connected on a three-pointer in the final seconds, but it was not enough as the Owls fell to UTSA, 52-43.
