Owls Look to Extend Winning Streak Against Morgan State

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple Women's tennis team seeks to keep its winning streak alive after taking down Lehigh 6-1 this past Wednesday, as they prepare to face Morgan State at the Legacy Tennis Center. Â
Scouting Temple
- Against Lehigh, the Owls won five of the possible six points in singles play, falling to Lehigh in only one match.Â
- The duos Maria Martinez, Thamara Kawaratani Frasser and Marianthi Christoforidou, Yasmin Costa both dominated their matches, taking the point for the Owls.
- Sophomore Nina Andreoni has consistently been winning her singles matches, being a solid contributor to the Owls' success.
Scouting Morgan State
- This will be the Bears' third day in a row of competition, coming fresh off of matches against William Woods University and Mizzou.
- The Bears went 3-3 in singles matches, with Michaela Stephens, Amira Bargacei, and Damla Arslan assisting the team in the win.
- In doubles play, Michaela Stephens, Julia Jeffrey, and Damla Arslan, Tyler Williams were able to secure the point for Morgan State to defeat George Washington for the first time ever, 4-3.
- Head Coach Matt Townes is in his fifth season leading both the men's and women's tennis teams at his alma mater, Morgan State. Townes was named Coach of the Year for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018 after leading the Bears to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship.
