Opening Tip
- Following a strong 81-73 win over East Carolina, the Owls will next travel to New Orleans to take on the Tulane Green Wave (13-10, 4-6 American) on Wednesday night on ESPN+.
- The Owls (15-8, 7-3 American) arrive to The Big Easy in sole possession of third place in the conference, sitting a half game behind South Florida and Tulsa, who are tied for first.
- Against East Carolina, Aiden Tobiason poured in a career-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting, as Temple controlled most of the game, leading for over 31 minutes and building a second-half advantage that reached as many as 14 points.
- Balance and discipline sealed it for Temple, with four players in double figures, a +9 rebounding margin (40–31), a season-low four turnovers, and timely free throws late to close out the 81–73 road win. Additionally, the Owls collected a season-high 17 offensive rebounds.
- Temple took care of the ball at a season-best level, committing just four turnovers, fewer than its previous low of five against Boston College. It was the Owls' cleanest performance since recording two turnovers against UTSA in the 2023–24 regular-season finale, marking the 13th time this season Temple has finished with nine or fewer giveaways.
Scouting Tulane
- Tulane finished non-conference play with a strong 11–3 record but has been inconsistent in league action, sitting ninth in the American with a 4–6 conference record.
- The Green Wave excel at the free throw line, ranking second in the American and 26th nationally at 77.1%, while also protecting the rim at a high level with 4.7 blocks per game (33rd nationally, second in the conference).
- Rebounding has been a challenge for Tulane, as it ranks last in the conference at 30.6 rebounds per game.
- Redshirt junior guard Rowan Brumbaugh leads the way, averaging 19.3 points per game (second in the American), pacing the team in assists (3.3), and leading the conference with 150 made free throws while shooting 81.1% from the line.
All-Time Series
- Temple is 16-9 all-time against Tulane, with a 7-5 record in New Orleans. The Owls seek their first win in the state of Louisiana against the Green Wave since the 2020-21 season. The Owls own a 4-1 record on the road in conference games this year, having already collected wins at Charlotte, Rice, UTSA and East Carolina.
- In Temple's last meeting against Tulane, the Owls earned a tight 80-77 win on Jan. 19, 2025, at the Liacouras Center. After falling behind early, Temple settled in offensively, pulled ahead with a decisive second-half run, and then fended off multiple late three-point attempts from Tulane to close out the win. Jamal Mashburn Jr. led the way with a season-high at the time of 32 points, shooting 12-16 from the field. For Tulane, Rowan Brumbaugh paced the Green Wave with 20 points from the floor.
