Owls Head North for Road Matches at Brown and Bryant

PROVIDENCE R.I. - The Temple University men's tennis team is set for a two-match road trip, starting with a match against the Brown Bears on Friday, March 13, before travelling to face the Bryant Bulldogs the following day on the 14th.

Last Time Out

  • Temple went 2-1 during its spring break trip to Florida, opening with a 4-1 win over North Carolina A&T, followed by a dominant 7-0 victory over Saint Bonaventure before closing the trip with a 6-1 loss to Barry.
  • Against North Carolina A&T, Temple secured the doubles point behind wins from Lance Cochran/Maj Najvirt Kolaric and Alberto Blumenschein/Oliver Aguilar, while Matteo Crespi, Oliver Aguilar, and Alberto Blumenschein each earned singles victories.
  • In the 7-0 sweep of Saint Bonaventure, the Owls claimed all three doubles matches and all six singles contests, highlighted by straight-set wins from Cochran, Crespi, Aguilar, and Harshith Pennabadi, while Aguilar recorded Temple's lone point in the loss to Barry with a straight-set singles victory.

Scouting Brown

  • Brown enters Friday riding a four-match win streak, downing Binghamton (6-1), Boston (7-0), Navy (4-2), and Georgetown (7-0).
  • The Bears have an 11-5 overall record this season. Heading into the second half of the season, Brown will look to improve its in-conference record from a season ago, where the team went 0-7.
  • Head Coach Mike Fried is in his first season as the head coach of the Brown Bears. This is his second stint in Providence after taking the reins at Wesleyan for 13 years.

Scouting Bryant

  • Bryant currently holds a 3-12 record with wins against Brandeis (4-3), Marist (4-2), and Boston (4-0).
  • Most recently, the Bulldogs played in four matches in four days from March 6-9, with the team only tallying one point through this stretch.
  • Head Coach Ron Gedron is in his 18th season as the leader of the Bulldogs. The winningest coach in program history, Gendron is a 7-time NEC Coach of the Year and has led the program to six NCAA Tournaments.
