Temple Drops One-Goal Decision to East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Temple women's lacrosse (8–3, 0–2 American) fell to East Carolina (4–4, 1–1 American), 8–7, Saturday morning at Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium. Sarah Gowman and Lexi Culp each recorded two goals to lead the Owls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
East Carolina struck first, as Grace Moore opened the scoring, followed by two goals from Riley Matthiesen to give the Pirates an early 3–0 lead. Lexi Culp put Temple on the board with a free-position goal to cut into the deficit, 3–1.
Culp added her second goal midway through the second quarter, trimming ECU's lead to 3–2. Sarah Gowman then tied the game at 3–3 off an assist from Kali Saito. After more than eight scoreless minutes, the Pirates regained the lead, but Jenna Facciolli answered with a goal for Temple to even the score at 4–4 heading into halftime.
Rachel Chessock and Sarah Goodison scored to give ECU a 6–4 advantage with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Sabrina Martin responded for the Owls, cutting the deficit to 6–5.
Laura Conner opened fourth-quarter scoring before Moore added another to put the Pirates ahead 7–6. Kayla Wilkes netted the game-winning goal, securing the 8–7 victory for East Carolina.

Temple remains on the road and will travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia, to face James Madison on Saturday, March 28. First draw is set for noon.
