Men's Tennis Set to Close Season with Two Matches vs. LIU and FDU

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple University men's tennis team is scheduled to close its regular season this week with two matches. The Owls face the LIU Sharks on Wednesday before facing the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Thursday in a senior day matchup.
Last Time Out
- Temple secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to take early control.
- The Owls won four singles courts with straight-set victories from Matteo Crespi and Pranav Nemani, plus a three-set comeback from Oliver Aguilar.
- Alberto Blumenschein clinched the match with a third-set tiebreak as Temple closed out a 5-2 win over Howard.
Scouting LIU
- LIU owns a 6-6 record heading into play, most recently falling 4-0 to Monmouth.
- The team's loss to the Hawks marked the end of a three-match winning streak where LIU earned wins against Saint Francis (4-3), Chicago State (4-0), and Binghamton (5-2).
- In his first year, Head Coach Andy Goveia leads both the men's and women's programs for the Sharks. A native of Guyana, Goveia served in the United States Army from 2011 to 2021
- The Knights enter play after facing Fordham on Wednesday in New York.
- Temple and FDU played each other last year as Temple gained the upper hand with a 4-1 win.
- Head Coach Alex Cole has led the Knights since 2024. Cole acts as head coach for both the men's and women's programs.
