Gauvin Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

NEW YORK – Following a two-goal weekend, the BIG EAST announced Tuesday that Temple University field hockey sophomore forward Kathryn Gauvin was named to the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll.

Gauvin found the back of the cage in both of Temple's contests against No. 19 Monmouth and Rider, finishing the weekend with two goals, four points, six shots and four shots on goal.

The Fall River, Mass., native opened her account for the season in Friday's 4-2 setback against No. 19 Monmouth. With Temple trailing 2-0, Gauvin scored with 31 seconds remaining in the first half to complete the Owls' comeback and send the teams into halftime tied at 2-2.

Gauvin followed with another goal in Sunday's 5-0 victory over Rider, finding the cage during a three-goal Temple surge in the third quarter. Rozlyn Maciejewski set up Gauvin's goal at the 38:20 mark, extending the Owls' advantage to 4-0.

The sophomore has now scored in back-to-back games and has two goals and four points through six contests this season. Gauvin recorded five goals and two assists for 12 points during her freshman campaign and now owns seven goals, two assists and 16 points in her Temple career.

The recognition marks the first BIG EAST weekly honor of Gauvin's career and gives Temple a selection to the honor roll in consecutive weeks after Lucia Magro earned the distinction on Sept. 8.

Temple (3-3) continues its four-game homestand on Friday, opening BIG EAST play against Georgetown at 1 p.m. at Howarth Field. The Owls then welcome Hofstra on Sunday at noon.
