PHILADELPHIA – Temple football returns to Lincoln Financial Field on Friday, September 25, as the Owls open American Conference play against Army. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Things to Look for in Week 4...

The 400 Club
K.C. Keeler will coach the 400th game of his collegiate head coaching career Friday against Army. Keeler is set to become the 24th head coach in NCAA football history to reach the 400-game milestone.

Ground and Pound
Temple has rushed for at least 176 yards in each of its first three games, the first time the Owls have done so since 2011. If Temple rushes for 150 or more yards against Army, it will mark its first four-game streak at that threshold since weeks 3-6 of the 2018 season.

Leading the Way
Linebacker Curly Ordonez has led Temple in tackles in each of the first three games of the season. He has 32 tackles through three games, while Saboor Karriem has added 22, giving the Owls two of the American Conference's top tacklers.

Conference Time
Friday is Temple's first American Conference game of 2026. K.C. Keeler is 15-8 in conference openers since 2002 and 7-3 when opening conference play at home. Temple defeated UTSA 27-21 in last season's conference opener.
  • Temple is looking to win its second consecutive American Conference opener after defeating UTSA 27-21 in last season's league opener.
  • Friday marks the 16th all-time meeting between Temple and Army. The Black Knights lead the series 8-7 and have won four straight after Temple previously won six in a row.
  • Temple is searching for its first weekday victory since a 17-7 Thursday-night win at South Florida in 2019.
Last Time Out

Temple built a 24-14 halftime lead at Toledo behind a strong rushing attack and three first-half scoring drives. Sam Brown scored twice before the break, while Ajani Sheppard connected with Joey Schlaffer for his first career touchdown pass. The Owls rushed for 158 yards in the opening half.

Temple extended its lead to 42-28 with 6:40 remaining after Brown's third touchdown of the afternoon, but Toledo rallied with two late scores, including the tying touchdown with 54 seconds left after recovering an onside kick. In overtime, Sheppard answered Toledo's touchdown with a 22-yard scoring run. Temple elected to go for two and the win, but the conversion pass fell incomplete as the Owls fell 49-48.

Army enters off a Week 3 bye

Army enters Week 4 with a 1-1 overall record and an 0-1 mark in American Conference play. The Black Knights opened the season with a 59-3 win over Bryant, piling up 569 rushing yards as five players rushed for at least 53 yards. Zach Mundell led the way with 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Army then dropped a 28-24 conference game to South Florida in West Point. The Black Knights led 24-14 with 10:56 remaining, but USF scored 14 unanswered points, including the game-winning touchdown with 1:56 left. Army comes to Philadelphia after a Week 3 bye.
