Joe Battaglia was hired as a graduate assistant in January 2017. He works with the offense.
Battaglia came from Coastal Carolina where he spent the previous five seasons working as an offensive analyst with the quarterbacks and receivers under current Owls offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude. In 2016, he assisted the Chanticleers to a 10-2 record that saw 6 different quarterbacks start by the end of the season due to injury.
Battaglia helped mentor quarterback Alex Ross to All-American and National Player of the Year finalist honors while shattering numerous school and conference records. In the span of five seasons Coastal went 51-14 while being ranked first in the FCS for most of the 2015 season. Consecutive 10 win seasons ended with quarterfinal losses to perennial power North Dakota State in back-to-back seasons.
Prior to serving as an offensive analyst, Battaglia served as an undergraduate assistant with the Chanticleers the previous four seasons while also being responsible for opponent breakdowns and weekly scouting reports (2011-14).
Battaglia played at Hartwick College (NY) in 2010 before becoming injured and transferring to Coastal Carolina. The Syracuse, N.Y., native, earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Coastal Carolina University in 2014.
