Thomas Niles joined the Temple football staff in February 2018, as a defensive graduate assistant.

He held the same position last year for Georgia Southern. While with the Eagles, he mentored Logan Hunt, who was selected second-team all-conference and led the team in TFLs (11.0) and sacks (5.0) and Raymond Johnson who was honorable mention all-conference as a freshman and had 6.5 TFLs and 4.0 sacks. From 2016-17, he coached at Oviedo High in Oviedo, Fla., where he was the defensive line coach for the football team and the head coach for the lacrosse team.

A graduate of UCF, Niles played defensive line for the Knights from 2012-15. He earned the team’s Outstanding Defensive Lineman award three years in a row (2013-15), and was named All-American Athletic Conference Second Team as well as Phil Steele's Postseason All-Conference Second Team during the 2014 season.
