Allen Son, who spent three years as a strength coach at IMG Academy, was named the Director of Men’s Basketball Sport Performance in August 2021. He completed his fourth season with the Owls during the 2024-25 season.
Son, a 2015 graduate of Central Michigan University, was promoted to head strength and conditioning coach for national basketball at IMG Academy in February 2021 after serving since 2018 as a strength and conditioning coach there. In that role, he designed and implemented a year-round, comprehensive strength and conditioning program for varsity national and post grad national basketball talent. He also worked collaboratively with sports medicine/athletic training, strength & conditioning staff, basketball staff and APD staff to provide holistic, high-performance training for student athletes, including five NBA/Overseas professionals and 25-plus Division 1 men’s basketball players.
The Queens, N.Y. native also worked on the strength and conditioning staffs of three different NCAA Division I schools: Detroit Mercy (2017-18), Michigan (2016-17) and Eastern Michigan (2015-16).
