Milo Sewards, M.D. is a team Orthopaedic Surgeon for Temple University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. He specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. As an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery, he has provided sports medicine coverage to Temple athletes since 2008. Dr. Sewards worked with Ray Moyer, M.D., Temple’s Hall of Fame Team Physician, until 2013.
After graduating from Jefferson College of Medicine in 2000, Dr. Sewards completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Temple University Hospital. Prior to joining the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine, he served on active duty in the US Navy. Stationed at the Beaufort Naval Hospital in South Carolina, he cared for the US Marine Corps recruits on Parris Island. Dr. Sewards continues to serve as a Commander in the US Navy Reserve Medical Corps.
In addition to his position as Team Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Sewards is the program director for the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at Temple University Hospital. Dr. Sewards and Dr. Eric Kropf oversee and coordinate the surgical experience and education of orthopaedic surgery residents, medical students in the field of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. In addition, undergraduate and graduate students in the Athletic Training Program at Temple University receive the operating room portion of their clinical rotation via a close relationship with our orthopaedic surgeons.
Dr. Sewards is a member of several regional and national specialty societies, reflecting his passion for Sports Medicine and surgical education. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and is part of the Emerging Leaders Program and Council of Orthopaedic Residency Directors of the American Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Sewards resides in Dresher, Pa., with his wife, Kristen, and their two daughters, Payton and Dylan.
