David Jones enters his seventh full season, and eighth overall, at the helm of the Temple women's soccer team and is bringing in his sixth full recruiting class. After taking over midway through the 2003 season, he is just the third head coach in the program's history, which began in 1991.

The Owls posted their most wins since 2002 last season, owning a regular season record of 7-11-1 with a 3-8-0 mark in Atlantic 10 play.  Again the team was determined to end the season on a high note, finishing the season with two conference wins including a defeat of school rival Saint Joseph's.

Over the course of the 2008 season, the Owls posted a 4-11-4 record with a 2-6-3 record in the Atlantic 10.  Jones led his charges on a late run with two wins in their final two games over conference foes Richmond and George Washington.

In 2007, the Owls enjoyed one of the best campaigns that they have had in years. After beginning the season with a 3-1 start, the most fruitful since 1992, TU posted an 8-1 win over Cleveland State. The seven goal differential was the largest margin of victory since 2004. Temple was also successful in Atlantic 10 competition, posting a 2-1 win over Dayton to record the program's first ever victory over the Flyers in 13 tries.

In 2006, Jones led the Cherry and White to a win over Penn, handing the Quakers their first loss of the season, and giving Temple its first victory over UP since the 1994 season.

In his second full season in 2005, Jones led the Owls to a 4-13-2 overall record and a 2-5-2 mark in the Atlantic 10, the squad's best finish since the 2002 season. Temple, led by a talented crop of freshman and sophomores, came on strong at the end of the season, either winning or tying its last four games. In 2004, Temple posted a 4-14-1 record for the second straight year, but the season was not devoid of several highlights. The Owls topped Lehigh, who reached the Patriot League final, in the season opener and also downed perennial postseason contender, Xavier.

Under Jones, the Owls compiled a 4-10-1 in 2003. Overall, they ended the season 4-14-1 and 2-9-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Jones' positive effect on the team was immediately evident, as Temple posted wins in its first two games with him at the helm.

Before accepting the head position with the women's team, Jones served as assistant coach for the Temple men's soccer team for two seasons. During that time, he aided in the rebuilding of the men's soccer program, which advanced to the first Atlantic 10 championship game in Temple history in 2003. Besides his coaching experience at Temple, Jones has served as both the girls' and boys' soccer coach at North Penn High School (Lansdale, Pa.). Prior to that, Jones guided Gloucester County Community College to the NJCAA National Championships in 1994 and 1995.

A standout player and Hall of Famer at Elizabethtown College ('86), Jones was selected to the 1985 NSCAA First All-American team and played in the 1986 Senior Bowl. He played professionally with the Bray Wanderers in Bray, Ireland and the Philadelphia Freedom in the USISL. Jones also has administrative experience, serving as director of sales and player personnel with the Philadelphia Kixx.

In addition to his coaching duties, Jones is currently pursuing a master's degree in special education at Temple.

He and his wife, Heidi, are the proud parents of two children, Claudia and Joshua.
