Virginia Tech Women Top Temple; Stay Perfect

BLACKSBURG, VA (Jan. 24, 1999) -- Michelle Houseright scored 24 points and Tere Williams added 23 and pulled down nine rebounds Sunday as No. 13 Virginia Tech defeated Temple 89-69.

The Hokies (18-0) shot 53.4 percent from the floor but failed to make a single 3-pointer against the Owls (7-11), who stumbled at the opening and made only 37 percent of their field goals in the first half.

Amy Wetzel added 20 points and nine rebounds for Tech, and Lisa Witherspoon had 12 assists. Williams was 9-for-10 from the floor, and Wetzel made 8-of-10 free throws.

Kim Martin and Natalia Isaac each scored 18 points for Temple, and Dawn Ingram pulled down nine rebounds.
