Probst Named Atlantic 10 Golf Co-Performer of the Week

(Apr. 27, 1999) -- Temple University men's golfer Steve Probst (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon High School) has been selected as the Atlantic 10 Conference Golf Performer of the Week. Probst shares the award with University of Rhode Island sophomore Michael Sims. Probst shot a 36-hole 143 (+1) to capture his first collegiate tournament victory this past weekend (April 23-24) at the Princeton Invitational. The junior team captain tied his career low with an opening round of 70 en route to his fifth collegiate top 10 finish. Temple, currently ranked No. 7 in District II in the Mastercard Collegiate Golf Rankings, placed third at the Princeton Invitational with a two round score of 599 in the 24 team tournament held at the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J. The Owls, under the direction of 27-year head coach John MacDonald, resume their season at the Penn State Invitational, May 1-2.
