Men's Soccer Falls to Philadelphia, 3-1

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sept. 14) -- Philadelphia University tallied three second-half goals in picking up a key, 3-1 Philadelphia Soccer Seven victory over Temple University Tuesday afternoon at Ravenhill Field. With the win, the Rams improve to 4-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the Soccer Seven, while Temple falls to 2-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the Soccer Seven.

After a scoreless first half, Philadelphia University got on the board first, when sophomore Everett Palache (Cleveland, Ohio/Notre Dame Latin Cathedral Latin) scored his team-high fifth goal of the season on an assist from junior John Westfield (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) at the 57:36 mark of the contest. The Rams extended their lead to 2-0 eight minutes later when senior A.J. Caldwell (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) picked up his first goal of the season.

Temple trimmed the Rams' lead in half just 2 1/2 minutes later when freshman John Burns (Philadelphia, Pa./North Catholic) scored, helped by an assist from senior Patrick Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast). But Philadelphia University put the game on ice with three minutes to play when junior Rob Miller (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy) scored on a free kick at the 86:10 mark.

Philadelphia University will be back in action tomorrow when they host St. Joseph's University in another Philadelphia Soccer Seven match slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. EST.
