Dayton Defeats Owls In Women's Basketball

DAYTON (Jan. 9) -- The Dayton Flyers go to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference
after beating the Temple Owls today at UD Arena. Final score of the game:
Dayton 85, Temple 46. This 39-point win is the largest margin of victory for
the Flyers this season. Temple goes to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in the A-10.
The Flyers led throughout the entire game, going up 46-30 by the half. They
shot 52.8 percent from the field for the first half, and went 6-for-7 from
the free throw line (85.7 percent). Dayton held the Owls to 14.8 percent
from the field (4-for-27) for the second half, scoring only 16 points.
All 13 players in uniform played for the Flyers today, and 12 scored. Dayton
was led by sophomore Alena Martens (Woodbury, MN), who scored 15 points and
grabbed six rebounds. This was a season-high for Martens. She also had
three assist and one steal. Freshman Stefanie Miller (Beavercreek, OH) had
a career-high with 14 points, which included going 1-for-2 from the three
point arc and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.
Dayton goes on the road next playing Friday, January 14, against the
University of Rhode Island at Kingston, RI. They then play at UMass on
Sunday, January 16, in Amherst, MA.
