Dayton Survives Men's Soccer 3-2 in Double Overtime

PHILADELPHIA (October 16) - Dayton survived a blunder -- scoring a goal for Temple -- but went on to down the Owls' 3-2 in double overtime. The game-winning goal was scored by RJ Kaszuba and assisted by Joe Appel 34 seconds into the second overtime. The loss drops Temple's record to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in the Atlantic 10. The win lifts Dayton record to 10-3 overall 5-1 in the Atlantic 10 remaining in a first -place tie with Rhode Island.
Dayton's RJ Kaszuba scored the first goal of the game at 12:35 of the first half. Temple knotted the score at one with a blunder by a Dayton defender scoring an own goal at 59:16 of the second half.
Temple then took the lead on a goal (header) by Augustus Snyder at 78:45 of the second half.
Dayton tied the score with eight minutes remaining in regulation with a penalty kick goal by Lee Crawford. The teams played a scoreless overtime with Temple's Goalkeeper Cornelius Murphy recording 10 saves in the contest. But Dayton's Kaszuba ended the game in the second overtime with his Conference leading 15th goal of the season.
The Owls'will next travel to LaSalle on Friday at 3:30p.m.
