Philadelphia - Temple raised its match record to 8-6 and 5-0 in the Atlantic 10 conference with a three games to none victory over La Salle in a match played at McGonigle Hall. The game scores were 15-13, 15-6 and 15-13 for the Owls who are in the midst of a four game October homestand after spending most of September on the road.
Playing the second straight match without senior All-America candidate and reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Alma Kovaci, Temple had several key contributors. Senior Brandy Best was superlative with 15 kills, eight digs and a .419 hitting percentage. Freshman Yamit Haba recorded a double-double booming 14 kills and 19 digs while sophomore Sara Stone posted 10 kills and eight digs. The Owls' two-headed setter position notched 53 assists for the match with senior Teresa Schumacher dishing out 33 assists and sophomore Solana Lee adding 20 assists.
La Salle, who always seems to play Temple tough, was led by Kristen Russo (12 kills, 16 digs), Kelly Daniel (11 kills, 13 digs) and Trina Allen (10 kills, eight digs). The Explorers took the lead in game three and tried to force a game four with the Owls but in the end the Temple attack prevailed.
