Bethlehem, PA - Ranked fifth regionally, Lehigh (6-2-2) topped Temple (1-7) rather easily by a 4-1 margin in non-league action on Tuesday afternoon, October 3, on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks scored two back-to-back goals late in the first half and added another early in the second half to put the Owls in a 3-0 deficit they could not get out of.
Evan Bruno struck first with his 12th goal of the season in the 37th minute with an assist from John Wrobel. Doug Cusick would put the Mountain Hawks up 2-0 just 44 seconds later when he beat Temple goalkeeper Andy Moser with the assist coming from Evan Bruno. Then in the 47th minute Dave Miller put the game nearly out of reach for the Mountain Hawks with his first goal of the season. Andy Casey picked up the assist on Miller's goal. Temple netted its only goal in the 67th minute when Danny Murtagh found the back of the net. Colin Marshall tacked onto the Lehigh lead with his first goal of the season in the 84th minute with Evan Bruno picking up his second assist of the game.
Lehigh goalkeeper Ryan Grzeszczak played 72 minutes and recorded one save. He sacrificed the only Temple goal. Mike Buckler saw his first action of the season as he played the remaining 18 minutes of the game for Lehigh and recorded two saves. Temple's Drew Moser played the entire game for the Owls and recorded three saves while allowing four goals.
Lehigh returns to action on Friday night when it travels to Army for a Patriot League game scheduled to start at 7:00.
