Women's Basketball Stumbles Against St. Joseph's, 58-39

Philadelphia (Februrary 14) --The Temple women's basketball team lost to St. Joseph's, 58-39, tonight at the Liacouras Center. The win earned St. Joe's the season series sweep over the Owls.
Temple hung tough for most of the first half as the Owls played solid defense snatching six steals and forcing eight St. Joseph's turnovers. The Owls trailed at the half, 30-16.
In the second half, the Owls fell behind by as many as 21 points before ripping off eight straight points and cutting the Hawk lead to 13 with 7:18 remaining. However, St. Joseph's would hold off the surging Owls and win the contest by 19 points.
Temple's leading scorer was Lisa Jakubowicz with nine points. Owl forward Kim Martin notched seven points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
St. Joseph's was lead by Angela Zampella who scored 13 points and dished out eight assists. Jana Lichnerova also tallied 13 points for the Hawks.
The loss drops the Owls to 8-16 overall and 3-10 in the Atlantic 10. St. Joseph's improves to 20-4 overall and 11-2 in the conference. Temple will next play host to Rhode Island on Friday (Feb. 18) at the Liacouras Center with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
