OWLS SHUTOUT BY SPIDERS 2-0

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's soccer team (2-9-1, 1-3) lost to the Richmond Spiders 2-0 in an Atlantic 10 matchup on Sunday afternoon at Temple Stadium.

The game remained scoreless in the first half while the Spiders had five shots on goal and the Owls with three. In the second half, the Spider's Steve Hutcheson was able to get the ball past the Owls goalie Patrick Hannigan at the 39:00 mark. Less than 10 minutes later, forward Brett Myers got through again for Richmond's second goal of the game.

The Owls were led by senior Jeff Fisher and freshman Steven Wacker both with two shots on goal. Junior goalie Patrick Hannigan had seven saves on the day.

The Owls go on the road next week to face Rhode Island University on October 19, 2001. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
