10.24.01 | Women's Volleyball

New Brunswick, N.J. -- The Temple volleyball team (14-7, 6-4) lost a non-conference match to Rutgers, three games to one on Tuesday, October 23. The game scores were 30-24, 23-30, 18-30 and 24-30 as the Scarlet Knights extended their home match win streak to 16 while handing the Owls their second consecutive road defeat.

It was truly a "sophomoric" effort for the Owls as sophomore Yamit Haba led the Temple attack with 15 kills and 17 digs. Fellow sophomores Yun Xu (14 kills, six digs), Margaret Majewska (13 kills) and Shu Liu (10 kills, 12 digs) were also key contributors for the Cherry and White. Junior setter Solana Lee dished out 45 assists for the Owls.

Shayla Bush (17 kills, 11 digs) and Casey Castillo (16 kills, 10 digs) led Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights out-hit the Owls .268 to .176.

Temple won the first game of the match but lost whatever edge it had in the remaining three games. The Owls return to the road for their next two matches, a conference match-up with Duquesne on Saturday, October 27 at 5:00 p.m. and a non-conference showdown with Villanova on Tuesday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m.
