Temple men's soccer team started out with a (3-2) overtime win against cross-town rival Drexel for new head coach David Mac Williams. The Owls were led in scoring by junior forward Angelo Di Carlo with (9 points), junior defender Matt Kaufman and freshman midfielder Andrew McMenamin were tied with 7 points apiece.
After their emotional opening season win Temple went on an 11 game skid. However, Temple rebounded to win their last 4 games to end the season with a 5-11 overall record and 4-6 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
For two consecutive weeks in October the Owls earned individual player accolades. Owls' freshman goalkeeper Cornelius Murphy was named Player of the Week in the Philadelphia Soccer Seven and the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 22. Murphy posted back to back road shutouts as the Owls snapped an 11-game losing streak. Murphy registered 3 saves on Friday as Temple won a Soccer Seven game at LaSalle 3-0. Two days later, he made 6 saves in a 2-0 whitewash of Fordham. Junior midfielder Angelo DiCarlo earned the Soccer 7 Player of the Week for the week ending October 29th.
The Owls finished the season with an impressive 4 game conference-winning streak defeating LaSalle, Fordham, Duquense and St.Bonaventure. The strong conference finished helped the Owls to place in middle of the pack (tied for 6th place in the conference with a 4-6-conference record and 5-11 overall.
